Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson put himself in the NFL history books with his first catch in the Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Jefferson recorded a nine-yard reception in the first quarter, and it was also the 500th of his already incredible career.
With the catch, Jefferson ties Arizona Cardinals legend and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald as the youngest player in NFL history to reach 500 catches.
Jefferson achieves the feat at 26 years and 90 days old, which is the exact same age Fitzgerald was when he reeled in his 500th career catch in 2009. Fitzgerald finished his career with 1,432 receptions, the second-most in league history.
Through five years in the NFL, Jefferson isn't just on a Hall of Fame trajectory, he's on pace to be one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game.
Jefferson has broken the 1,000-yard mark in each of his first five seasons, including in 2023, when he was limited to just 10 games. Jefferson has crossed the 1,400-yard mark four times, with his best season coming in 2022 when he tallied 1,809 yards.
Making his career showing more impressive is the fact that he's been so dominant with multiple quarterbacks. First, he had Kirk Cousins, then Sam Darnold and now J.J. McCarthy, who is basically a rookie after missing all of his first season.
This is just the latest historic achievement of Jefferson's career and it certainly won't be the last.
