Victor Wembanyama has made Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo trade destination clear

1 hour ago 3

The Milwaukee Bucks will be taking calls from all directions this summer in regards to a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.

Maybe the most logical destination is also one of the scariest possible landing spots: the Oklahoma City Thunder.

OKC has lots of trade capital, both with young players and draft picks. The Thunder also have an incredibly obvious need: They have to find someone who can slow down Victor Wembanyama.

Of all the players in the world of basketball, Giannis seems like one of the few who would have even a little shot.

This logic that has gained steam on social media is the kind of thinking that could align here:

OKC has always been the play for a Giannis trade, and in retrospect, waiting until it became obvious the Thunder needed the one guy in the league who can match up with Wemby was the right move. It's good for Giannis too: if he wins he'll get the credit he deserves.

The last sentence there, that Giannis will get proper credit, is a bit tricky. Many fans would gladly write off Antetokounmpo for joining a championship-level team like the Thunder.

But the flip side is that Wemby is beginning to look like an NBA cheat code. Pretty much no one can slow him down.

If Antetokounmpo really did join the Thunder and help them defeat the Spurs by limiting Wembanyama, that'd be quite the feat.

Giannis already got a ring as the leading man for Milwaukee. It makes sense that his next step would be with the hope of getting another title, whatever that looks like.

And the Thunder, despite being an incredible team already, could also have this obvious need.
