The series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder is now tied up 1-1. San Antonio has played two good games, but there is one big problem that is plaguing their performances, and that is their turnovers.
Stephon Castle, in particular, has had a tough time because he has amassed 20 turnovers in two games. That is not a good look for San Antonio, as it is linked to the Spurs not having De'Aaron Fox in the active rotation due to his injury.
Victor Wembanyama reveals that the Spurs know they have turnover issues
The Spurs have been excellent throughout the 2026 Playoffs. However, they have had some issues with how they take care of the basketball. Castle has been tasked to be a primary ball-handler for the Spurs, which is a unique role for a second-year player in his very first postseason run.
He has done well, but this series against OKC has not been pretty. Castle has been producing, but the turnovers are nullifying his impact on the game. Even superstar big man Victor Wembanyama laments the turnover problem because it is affecting the Spurs' performance.

As the Spurs' leader and best player, Wembanyama prefers to have an easier time when playing on offense. He will be defended, but he should expect the ball to come to him without any issue. Unfortunately, that has not been the case with Castle as the lead ball-handler.
"We didn't do a great job at it today. We need some poise for sure, taking care of the ball, helping our main ball-handlers, and being aggressive like we were in the fourth quarter," Wembanyama said after the game in his press conference.
It will be interesting to see how the Spurs adjust, as they are headed back home. Castle knows he must improve ahead of Game 3, and the Spurs could have Fox back. However, Dylan Harper's injury throws a wrench into this dynamic because he was also a reliable ball-handler, which could over-tax both Fox and Castle again.
