Veteran wrestler addresses claims about CM Punk failing as a champion: "Just look at his numbers"

Former WCW wrestler Disco Inferno recently shared his thoughts about CM Punk. The star is currently the World Heavyweight Champion on RAW.

Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 after a ten-year hiatus. Since his return, he has become a top babyface for the company. He won the World title at SummerSlam after defeating Gunther. However, his title reign lasted only a few minutes as Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. Punk finally reclaimed that gold at Saturday Night's Main Event after defeating Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.

On a recent episode of Keepin' It 100, Inferno addressed a fan's claims about Punk not drawing as a champion. He felt that the Best in the World was an excellent professional wrestler and could also cut great promos. The wrestling veteran felt that Punk worked the classic WWE style and was one of the most popular stars on the current roster. He admitted that fans could trash the Straightedge star for his UFC career, but his numbers prove that he is still a huge box-office attraction.

"I like Punk, he's the world champion because he cuts an excellent promo and knows how to sell his matches. He goes out there and wrestles a very logical WWE-style match. He's an excellent professional wrestler. I have zero problems with him. He's over, just look at his numbers. You can knock him for the UFC stuff, but beyond that, all the metrics on this guy are really good."

Disco Inferno spoke about CM Punk's trip to Saudi Arabia

During his time away from the company, CM Punk was a harsh critic of WWE's tours to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Disco Inferno also spoke about Punk's deal with WWE.

"He figured if I'm working here, I gotta go to Saudi because that's where I'm gonna be making a lot of my money. That's what we do. We don't do this for free or for virtue. We do it for a living, and the living is making money," Disco said.

Earlier this year, CM Punk travelled to the country for a huge championship match against John Cena at Night of Champions. During his visit, Punk apologized to the crowd for his comments, and the WWE Universe welcomed him with open arms.
