USC legend Rodney Peete’s wife delivered a stunning endorsement of coach Lindsay Gottlieb’s emotional stand on Brown University’s shooting tragedy. She wrote in the comment section of an Instagram post of the Trojans coach’s message in a press conference about the incident.

Gottlieb on Saturday expressed shock about the school shooting. She sent her support to teammates with kids affected by the situation and criticized the frequency of gun violence in the US.

"It doesn't need to be this way, Gottlieb said. “Sending thoughts and prayers to my teammates who have kids there ... we're the only country that lives this way.” "Parents should not have to be worried about their kids, she added. “I have a teammate who has a daughter who is in the basement of the library because she doesn't know what's going on there, and she's flying there tomorrow. Hopefully, everyone is safe and praying for peace for those that have lost people. And that's that, it's more important than basketball. We can all be better."

There was a mass shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday. It occurred during the final exam period at approximately 4:05 p.m., when the shooter reportedly opened fire on students and then left the scene.

Two people were killed in the attack, 19-year-old Ella Cook and first-year student Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov. Nine others were also wounded and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Authorities initially released video footage of a person of interest, who was believed to be the shooter. The person was later released after it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to hold them as a suspect. The actual shooter however remains at large and is still being sought by police.

USC Coach Lindsay Gottlieb opens up after loss to UConn

USC Coach Lindsay Gottlieb shared her feelings after the USC Trojans lost 79-51 to the UConn Huskies. She blamed the loss on the team’s turnovers, which stood at 20.

"We turned the ball over a lot," USC Coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. "That's something we talked about; it's really hard to guard them in transition off of made or missed baskets, but I thought we could do that better than anyone they played, but it's really hard off of live-ball turnovers."

The Trojans struggled offensively, shooting 30% from the field with 23% in the first half. Gottlieb was however confident that the team would bounce back and would have the chance to do that when they host the Cal Poly Mustangs on Thursday.
