Shocking video shows a new, state-of-the-art Lufthansa Boeing 787 Dreamliner collapsing on its front wheel Thursday while being prepped to fly to California, injuring several crew members.

The plane’s front landing gear collapsed while it was being fueled and stocked up at Frankfurt airport ready for an afternoon flight to Los Angeles, video shared by FlightRadar24 shows.

The 787-9 aircraft — which had only been in operation for six months — suddenly smashed into the tarmac while attached to the jetway, but thankfully before any passengers had boarded, a Lufthansa spokesperson told the German press agency DPA.

“The aircraft’s nose landing gear unexpectedly folded in while parked,” the spokesperson said.

“At the time of the incident, crew and ground staff were on board. Passengers had not yet boarded. Several employees were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.”

Lufthansa deployed a crisis team and the flight to Los Angeles was canceled. It’s not known if human error caused the landing gear to cave.
