MJF has been out of action for the past couple of months. New details have come to light regarding his AEW return.

MJF is the best homegrown talent AEW has produced since the company's inception in 2019. Within a few years, Maxwell was able to win the World Title and establish himself as one of the biggest heels in the industry. Maxwell has been a regular feature on TV for the past couple of years. In recent months, he has been pursuing the World Title again. However, he had put this goal on the back burner as he took time off from the ring to film for the movie Violent Night 2. Hence, he has not been seen on TV since All Out 2025.

According to recent reports from Fightful Select, filming for Violent Night 2 is nearing completion. It was initially believed that the AEW star would travel back and forth between tapings and the film set. However, this has not happened yet. It is also reported that there is no timeline given for Maxwell's AEW return. Sources within the Jacksonville-based promotion have noted that the Salt of the Earth has developed a passion for acting and has enjoyed his experiences on set.

Jim Cornette was confused by MJF's last promo before his absence

After his loss to Mark Briscoe at All Out, the AEW cameras caught up with MJF backstage, where he informed everyone that he was going on a hiatus. This video footage was aired the following week on Dynamite.

Speaking on his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the veteran seemed confused about Maxwell's promo.

"Well, speaking of following up and going home, and where the f**k is this going? MJF was in the back of the building in a pre-tape after the pay-per-view, where he usually does his great interviews. Just to get him on television, they just put his face on there; that's all they care about. He was going over everything that has been done to him since Adam Cole ruined his life," said Cornette

It will be interesting to see when the former AEW World Champion will make his return to the ring.
