Mikaela Shiffrin and her fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, have put an end to the questions on the next step in their relationship on the American skier's newly launched podcast. The couple got engaged on April 4, 2024, after dating for almost three years.

Shiffrin and Kilde met in 2014 for the first time at the Alpine Ski Racing World Cup in Chile. The two interacted with each other after seven years in 2021, after Shiffrin's father passed away.

After making their relationship public in May 2021 by sharing a picture on Instagram, the couple got engaged on April 4 and announced the good news on social media. Almost 1.6 years after their engagement, the couple spoke about their marriage plans in Shiffrin's new 'What's The Point with Mikaela' podcast.

"Let me tell you that people want to know, when is the wedding? We're going to get married guys, calm down. It's gonna happen. Just, there's just like a couple things that are going on right now," said Mikaela Shiffrin.

Replying to it, Kilde said:

"We also talked about the first thing...We don't have to do this now. I just know, you're the woman of my life and that's gonna happen."

Talking about how he read Shiffrin's mind after proposing to her, he added:

"The Google planning, just like, 'okay this is not fitting into my calendar right now, so, we gotta wait a little bit. I say yes, but we gotta wait.' I saw that going, I was like, don't worry about it, it doesn't have to happen right now. I know there's this unwritten rule, like you have to do it a year within after the engagement or whatever. I'm not sure actually. I just heard it," said Kilde.

Mikaela Shiffrin is currently gearing up for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Italy.

Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Kilde opened up about hate around their relationship

In the aforementioned podcast, Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Kilde also made their feelings known about the hate surrounding their relationship. The American shared a clip from their conversation on Instagram, where she revealed how people saw their relationship and suggested she retire from the sport.

"It's funny to read the insights that people have about our relationship, and just like, aggressive. Some people get aggressive, and honestly, a lot of people, I don't know if they do this for you, but a lot of people tell me it's time for you to retire. Just go be with Aleks," said Mikaela Shiffrin.

Mikaela Shiffrin has won four Olympic medals in her career so far. She won a gold medal in the 2014 Sochi Games and one gold medal in the 2018 PyeongChang Games. The American returned empty-handed in 2022 and is now amped up for the upcoming 2026 Winter Games.
