The fourth T20I of India's ongoing five-match series against South Africa was abandoned without the toss due to excessive fog in Lucknow on Wednesday, December 17. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has announced a full refund for the spectators present at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium for the game.
The board confirmed that the fans who booked online tickets will get the refund amount in their original payment mode. The offline ticket holders will be required to be present in person with their physical ticket and a government ID.
UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta stated in an official release (via Hindustan Times):
"Spectators who booked tickets online will receive a refund of the ticket amount through their original mode of payment. Refund-related notifications will be sent to the registered email addresses. Ticket holders are advised to regularly monitor their emails for further updates. "Offline ticket holders must be present in person and are required to: Carry your original physical tickets along with a copy of Government ID for verification," the statement added.The spectators are required to submit the documents along with their bank details. The refund process will be initiated after a successful verification.
"Customers will submit all the above with their bank details. Fill out the refund form provided at the counter with relevant and accurate details. Submit the original tickets along with the completed form for verification. Upon successful verification, refunds will be processed directly to the respective bank accounts as per the details provided in the refund form. Refunds will be initiated only after due verification of the submitted documents and information," the statement said.Notably, the toss for the fourth T20I was scheduled to take place at 6:30 PM (IST). However, there were multiple delays due to the fog. The umpires carried out inspections several times to check the visibility, but the game was ultimately called off.
India and South Africa to face off in Ahmedabad for the final T20I of the series
South Africa's tour of India is set to conclude with the fifth and final T20I of the series. The match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, December 19.
The Men in Blue currently have a 2-1 lead in the series. Since taking over India's T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav has yet to lose a bilateral T20I series.
His streak will continue as the hosts cannot lose the series. This will be the last international match of the year 2025 for both teams.
