India all-rounder Sneh Rana revealed that the team became emotional after seeing veteran batter Rohit Sharma getting moved following the Women in Blue’s triumph at the 2025 Women’s World Cup. The final was played on Sunday, November 2, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Put into bat, Shafali Verma’s 87 off 78 balls helped India post 298/7 in their 50 overs. In response, Deepti Sharma starred with figures of 5/39 in 9.3 overs as India won the match by 52 runs, clinching their maiden Women’s World Cup title. As the Women in Blue made history, Rohit Sharma was seen getting emotional in the stands, and the video of the moment quickly went viral.
Reflecting on the scene during his appearance on the Filmygyan YouTube podcast, Sneh Rana said:
“Woh abhi just hamara final dekhne bhi aaye the. He was very emotional and unko dekh ke hum bhi bahut zyada emotional ho gaye the.” [He had just come to watch our final. He was very emotional, and seeing him, we also became extremely emotional].Under Rohit’s captaincy, the Men in Blue fell short of winning the 2023 ODI World Cup, losing to Australia by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rohit Sharma to return to action in South Africa ODI series
Veteran India opener Rohit Sharma will be back in action later this month as the Men in Blue host South Africa for a three-match ODI series, starting November 30 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
In India’s most recent bilateral ODI series against Australia, Shubman Gill’s side went down 2-1. However, Rohit impressed with the bat, earning the Player of the Series award after scoring 202 runs in three games at an average of 101.00 and a strike rate of 85.59, including one fifty and one century.
