Tyrese Maxey credits the fans for pushing him to become the 76ers' most prolific shooter

Tyrese Maxey has become one of the most prolific players in the Philadelphia 76ers' recent history. Now, he is in the record books for his three-point shooting, as he became the franchise's all-time leader for made three-pointers.

He surpassed the iconic Allen Iverson, who previously held the record. Maxey did this in his sixth season, which is a great display of his development through the years.

Maxey appreciates the fans for inspiring him to be a sharpshooter

Before entering the NBA in 2020, Maxey was not typically seen as a sharpshooter. His best attribute was always his speed and ability to finish at the rim with that blistering pace. However, his off-ball movement translated well into his three-point shooting as well.

After starting his career shooting 30.1% from beyond the arc, he has maintained an above-average percentage from three at 38%. That is such a good percentage for a shooter, and it appears that Maxey will continue being prolific.

Maxey is driven by his hunger for success, but he also appreciates how much support he gets from the passionate 76ers fans. Sports fans in Philadelphia have always been passionate, so Maxey receiving support from them is huge.

"Once I heard about it (the record), I want to do it at the crib. I think the fans are a big part of my success. Very thankful for all the fans in Philadelphia, we have a special connection," Maxey said about setting the record in front of the home fans.

"AI is somebody I looked up to, being a small guard, to be able to pass him in anything in basketball, that's cool. To have my name next to his is amazing."

Now that he has surpassed Iverson, he has plenty of time to set a franchise record. There could be better shooters in the future, but in the meantime, Maxey stands alone at the top of the mountain.
