The Miami Dolphins had some interesting quarterback problems this past season. Tua Tagovailoa struggled mightily and was benched late in the year.
But, despite having Zach Wilson on the bench on a $6 million deal, rookie seventh-rounder Quinn Ewers got the starts over Wilson. It makes sense from a team-building perspective, as Ewers might turn into a solid QB, while the books are out on Wilson.
However, for Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, Wilson isn't a career backup. Hill, in response to a rumor that Wilson wants to have a Mac Jones or Sam Darnold-esque career arc, shared a strong belief in Wilson, so much so that he called him a "great QB."
Tyreek Hill believes Zach Wilson is a 'great QB'
"Zach is a great QB plus locker mate with more time with Mike (McDaniel), who knows," Hill posted on Twitter/x.
Wilson hasn't shown that he's a great quarterback in the NFL in his limited career thus far. But, just like how Darnold, Jones, and even Baker Mayfield and Geno Smith got second chances, Wilson might be better than he's shown thus far.
Hill believes that to be the case, and would love to see Wilson turn into such a quarterback in his career. Staying with Mike McDaniel, wherever he ends up, is what Hill is hoping for.
If McDaniel stays with the Los Angeles Chargers as their offensive coordinator, Wilson could make for a decent backup to Justin Herbert.

While Wilson didn't get much of a chance to prove himself in Miami, Hill's comments indicate a strong belief that Wilson could turn into a solid starting QB in the league.
It wouldn't be the first time that a highly drafted quarterback from the New York Jets leaves and turns their career around.
Calling Wilson a "great QB" might be a bit presumptuous, but Wilson was drafted highly for a reason. There's potential there, and going to the right coaching staff and situation could turn his career around.
Hill believes that's the case and is hoping that Wilson, who was a great locker mate in Miami, will find a new landing spot to give him a better chance to succeed in the league.
