LA Clippers fans are livid, and much of their frustration is being directed at head coach Tyronn Lue. On Saturday, the Clippers dropped their fourth straight game, and second in a row to the Phoenix Suns, falling 114-103. Many fans questioned one particular aspect of Lue’s decision-making involving a high-priced forward.

Fans weren’t pleased with how John Collins’ minutes were handled. During Saturday’s loss to the Suns, Collins, who posted a positive plus-minus, was given only 11 minutes in the first half.

Specifically, fans took issue with the fact that Collins, in the final season of his five-year, $125 million contract, was playing behind 36-year-old Nicolas Batum in the rotation.

“Ty Lue needs to go. Team is the reflection of the coach,” one fan said. “A mighty 16 minutes through 3 quarters for John Collins who is 1 of only 3 players who had a positive in the game. FIRE TY LUE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!!!!!” another said. “HOW IS JOHN COLLINS A POSITIVE AND HE PLAYS 11 MINUTES IN THE FIRST HALF LMFAOOOO TY LUE JUST F**K OFF 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” another commented.

Here are other reactions:

Collins finished the night with 19 points, the most by any bench player in the game, along with four rebounds and two assists. He ended up logging nearly 29 minutes and was one of just two Clippers with a positive rating.

How is John Collins performing for the Clippers this season?

Before Saturday’s matchup, Collins ranked as the Clippers’ fourth-leading scorer, averaging 12.6 points per game. He also averaged 24.1 minutes per contest, tied for the fourth most on the team behind only James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac, though he has yet to start a game this season.

He ranks fourth on the team in rebounding at 5.0 per game while shooting 54.9% overall and 42.1% from 3-point range.

The forward playing ahead of him aside from Leonard is Derrick Jones Jr., who averages 11.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg.

Among the Clippers’ other bench options at the same position, Nicolas Batum averages 2.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg while shooting just 24.0%.
