President Trump slammed the New York Times as “a serious threat to the national security of our nation” in a late-night Truth Social post.
While he didn’t provide context for the statement, his post came days after the newspaper published an in-depth report about his relationship with the late sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
“The Failing New York Times, and their lies and purposeful misrepresentations, is a serious threat to the National Security of our Nation,” Trump wrote just after midnight Monday.
“Their Radical Left, Unhinged Behavior, writing FAKE Articles and Opinions in a never ending way, must be dealt with and stopped. THEY ARE A TRUE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! Thank you for you [sic] attention to this matter. PRESIDENT DJT.”
President Trump called out The New York Times as a “threat to national security” on Truth Social late Monday. APThe post marked the latest salvo in Trump’s long-running criticism of the Times, which has run numerous critical articles and polemics about the president.
While the outlet’s latest investigation found no evidence implicating Trump in Epstein’s sex trafficking crimes, the article depicted close social ties between the men.
The story came as the Justice Department released another batch of files on Tuesday related to the case of the notorious pedophile.
Truth Social/@realDonaldTrumpIn the latest trove, a Jan. 8, 2020 email revealed that Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet at least eight times during the mid-1990s, according to flight records reviewed by Manhattan federal prosecutors ahead of the arrest of Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
The email provided no evidence that Trump was aware of Epstein’s sex crimes against women and girls as young as 14, nor did it indicate wrongdoing on the part of the president.
