Trump rightly pushes Democrats to show voters their weird extremism

“How do you not stand?” President Donald Trump asked congressional Democrats mid-speech Tuesday as they sat on their hands rather than applaud his vow “that we will ensure justice” for Iryna Zarutska, the young woman slain by a lunatic on a Charlotte, NC, light-rail line.

It was just one of several moments that exposed why the public so dislikes today’s Democratic Party — and set the fundamental approach Republicans will take to campaigning in this year’s midterm elections.

The other big landmark of course being their refusal to rise when the president asked them to stand if they believe their first duty is to the safety of US citizens, not to illegal immigrants.

Democrats just can’t stop themselves from siding with criminals against justice, border-jumpers’ needs against citizens, the demented demands of “pro-trans” extremists against parents’ rights and children’s best interests.

Time and again, they put just plain bizarre ideology over common sense.

Corner progressives just a bit more, and they can’t even just love  America.

The Olympic champion US hockey team dared to take a phone call from this president, and then even laughed at one of his jokes — and instantly the entire establishment commentariat was damning them as Cro-Magnon MAGA enablers.

Pathetic — and it matches the polling that shows how Democratic voters have turned: 87% said they were proud to be an American in 2001; the figure’s dropped steadily in the quarter-century since, to just 36%.

And, yes, Republicans absolutely need to rub voters’ faces in how crazy the Democrats have grown — because the party, if given an ounce of power, will ram through the hard left’s program.

Joe Biden ran as a centrist only to embrace the craziest DEI and trans agendas, and open both the border and the inflation-feeding spending spigots, the instant he took office.

And nothing has changed: New Gov. Abby Spanberger just won as a moderate in Virginia — then turned around and made it a sanctuary state while embracing pro-crime “reforms” and calling for a long list of new taxes, as well as a drastic partisan gerrymander she’d pretended not to support during the campaign.

And she’s the leader Democrats chose to answer Trump’s State of the Union remarks.

Meanwhile, the Dems who skipped the speech for counter-rallies wound up surrounded by utter weirdness, including furries and the Portland Frog Brigade.

The Republican Party is far from perfect, and the right hosts a few horrid loons like Candace Owen — but she’s isolated on the fringe, not on a podium with dozens of House Democrats like the froggies.

With Trump in the White House and (thin) GOP majorities in Congress, it’s easy for Americans to forget why they rejected the Democrats in 2024; with Tuesday’s speech, the president set the stage for every Republican running this fall to help voters realize that the Dems haven’t changed — except to grow worse than ever.
