WWE received a lot of heat from the audience following Saturday Night's Main Event when John Cena tapped out to Gunther. Meanwhile, Vince Russo believes that it's only a matter of time before Triple H leaves his duties and Vince McMahon returns to the promotion.
For decades, Vince McMahon was the sole owner and the head booker in the Stamford-based promotion. However, it all changed overnight when McMahon stepped back from his duties, and Triple H eventually rose higher in the rankings backstage, becoming the Chief Content Officer.
Speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle Studios' The Coach and Bro Show, a fan asked Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo when the company will remove Triple H from his current position. Russo believes Vince McMahon will eventually return to power and Triple H will be removed from his current position in around two years.
"Coach, I'm with you on this two-year selling to Saudi Arabia. I really think that's the window. I really believe that's the window. Two-year period, and hopefully, in Vince McMahon's mind and Saudi's mind, Vince will be clear, Vince will orchestrate the deal, and then Vince will be back in the saddle again," Russo said.Ex-WWE star thinks Triple H could become the next Vince McMahon
Saturday Night's Main Event ended on a heartbreaking note when John Cena retired from in-ring competition. However, Gunther and Triple H became the biggest heels on the planet, as The Ring General was the one to end The Franchise Player's iconic career, and The Game was the mastermind behind booking creative on WWE's main roster.
Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, the ECW veteran stated that there's a chance The Game can use the heat and become an on-screen villainous character similar to Mr. McMahon. Moreover, he thinks the 14-time world champion hinted at it with one of McMahon's promos.
"Now, Gunther has heat, Triple H has heat, and Triple H used a line that I believe that Triple H is going to be the next Mr. McMahon on TV. The time-honored tradition: he pulled out the Bret sc**wed Bret interview line from Vince. He did it at the post-show when they booed him," Richards said. It'll be interesting to see what's next for Triple H on WWE's main roster.
