Triple H allegedly refused to lose to a five-time WWE champion. The Game, who oversees the creative of WWE these days, was accused of holding back talent during his days as an active performer.
Many fans believed that during his reign as a top performer on RAW in the Ruthless Aggression Era, he buried other stars to keep his spot. However, his refusal to put over talent may not have begun then, according to former WWE writer Vince Russo.
During a conversation on Behind the Turnbuckle Studios' Coach and Bro podcast, Vince Russo was asked by a fan about HHH's politicking in WWE. The veteran recalled an incident with Nation of Domination's D'Lo Brown, when the Cerebral Assassin allegedly refused to put him over.
"Guys, I will tell you an incident that I will never forget, and it’s kinda when I saw a turn in Triple H. We were doing a program with DX and The Nation (of Domination) and it was going back and forth and back and forth, and I’ll never forget when Triple H didn’t wanna do a job for D' Lo Brown. And I knew right then and there that, ok, here we go," he said.D-Generation X, led by Triple H, and the Nation of Domination, led by The Rock, feuded with each other during the Attitude Era. The feud is remembered for many engaging segments and matches. However, HHH's alleged refusal to put over D'Lo Brown raises some questions.
Brown would go on to be a four-time European champion as well as a one-time Intercontinental champion in the promotion.
Vince Russo said Triple H could be fired from WWE
Vince Russo has made it clear that he isn't a fan of Triple H's booking and creative decisions in WWE.
He has repeatedly questioned his ability to lead the promotion's creative team, and following John Cena's retirement match, he claimed that the former World Champion could be fired.
HHH was met with boos after Cena tapped out in his final WWE match, and Vince Russo said it was an indication of fans not being on board with his booking. He said that it could mark the beginning of the end for HHH's stint as the Chief Operating Officer.
