WWE dropped a huge Samoa Joe reference this week. Joe is the current AEW World Champion and has a huge target on his back.
Joe worked with WWE for several years before his final release in 2022. The star then joined AEW and has been a prominent member of the roster ever since. In fact, this week, he is headed for a huge title defense at Worlds End. At the last pay-per-view of the year, Joe will look to defend the gold against three challengers in a fatal-four-way match.
WWE recently dropped the video of a thrilling encounter from the December 25, 2017, episode of RAW on their WWE Vault YouTube channel. The match featured Roman Reigns defending the Intercontinental Championship against Samoa Joe. The match ended in DQ after the Big Dog continued to pummel Joe in the corner of the ring. The chaos continued after the bell, as Roman continued to batter the challenger outside the ring. He even hit Joe with some stiff shots with the steel steps. Several officials rushed to separate the two men, and Samoa Joe was helped to the back by a referee.
Samoa Joe will be in action at AEW Worlds End 2025
Last week on Dynamite, AEW World Champion Samoa, "Hangman" Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland showed up for a huge contract signing segment for their match at Worlds End. Each star started firing shots before signing the contract.
However, the exclamation point was when Maxwell Jacob Friedman made his return. MJF star showed up and immediately inserted himself into the title picture. He cashed in his Casino Gauntlet contract, making the match a four-way for the title.
He even fired shots at the three stars in the ring. However, things did not escalate since the management had warned anyone from getting physical before the encounter.
It will be interesting to see if Samoa Joe can walk out of Worlds End as the AEW Champion on December 27.
