Travon Walker ejected: Former first round pick gets tossed for throwing punch vs. Raiders in Week 9

6 hours ago 2

The Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9. Jacksonville entered the game with a 4-3 record and had been playing better than expected, with many assuming they could easily handle a subpar Las Vegas squad.

The game was close early on, and tensions eventually boiled over, but only for one player. Former first overall pick Travon Walker was getting blocked and struck an offensive lineman for the Raiders in the third quarter. The contact came right in front of an official, and the defensive end was swiftly tossed from the remainder of the game.

Here is what led to Walker getting ejected in Week 9 against the Raiders.

Why was Travon Walker ejected?

Replays of the contact Walker had with a Las Vegas blocker are limited. The main one, which can be seen below, shows a very up-close clip of the Jaguars' pass rusher swinging at the Raiders offensive lineman. We will likely get an answer from him as to why he did what he did in his postgame availability, but for now it looks like it was unprompted.

When was Travon Walker drafted?

Walker was selected with the first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. It was the second year in a row that Jacksonville had the first overall pick, after the Jaguars selected quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Heading into the 2025 season, Walker had back-to-back seasons with at least 10 sacks. 2025 marks the final year of his rookie contract, but Jacksonville already picked up the fifth-year option on his contract for the 2026 season.
