Travis Kelce's honest admission adds fuel to Chiefs-NFL referees controversy

The Kansas City Chiefs success over the past decade has led some to believe the referees have favored them in their calls. This week, Travis Kelce's admission didn't dampen those accusations.

Kelce and his brother, Jason, released their latest episode of "New Heights," and on the show the tight end admitted to a call that the referees missed on "Monday Night Football." During the Chiefs win over the Broncos, Kelce apparently had a holding call in one of the biggest moments in the game.

The admission won't make Broncos fans feel any better, especially after the Chiefs won the game by three touchdowns in Kansas City. Since the penalty wasn't called, the Kelces had a nice laugh about it instead of lamenting the mistake.

Travis Kelce admits to holding vs. Broncos

The Chiefs first touchdown of the season was a Patrick Mahomes rushing toiuchdown, as the quarterback scrambled for 15 yards into the endzone. The play got the Chiefs off on the right foot as they would go on to beat the Broncos 31-10.

However, Travis Kelce said that the touchdown probably shouldn't have counted. The tight end admitted to holding a Broncos defender on the score, and he got off the ground worried that the referees would call a flag on him.

"It was definitely a questionable play, that's one of those where you get up slowly like please don't be any laundry on the field," Kelce said on the latest "New Heights" episode. "Can't do it, almost cost us."

What would've made the penalty worse is that the Chiefs already had one Mahomes rushing touchdown called back on the play prior. Had the referees called holding on Kelce, the Chiefs would've had a 2nd-and-goal situation from around the 25-yard line.

Instead, the Chiefs took the early lead and would go on to cruise over the Broncos for the win. Kansas City outplayed Denver significantly, so it's hard to say this missed call was the difference in the game, but it certainly dug the Broncos in a hole.
