Ravens' Derrick Henry called 'modern-day Jim Brown' by Hall of Fame RB

The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, with Lamar Jackson tearing it up for them every season, but over the last couple of years, Derrick Henry has been a true revelation for the team.

He's been one of the best running backs in the NFL for a long time now, and might even be on his way to the Hall of Fame when it's all said and done. And at least from the perspective of one Hall of Fame running back, Henry deserves to be named among the greatest at the position.

Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic shared that Hall of Fame and legendary running back LaDainian Tomlinson shared some high praise for Henry, who he called the "modern-day Jim Brown" in the NFL.

"To me, he's the modern-day Jim Brown. That's what he is," Tomlinson told The Athletic in reference to the Ravens' star RB.

Henry has been one of the best running backs in the NFL for some time now. Fans know it, and even NFL legends know it as well.

After putting up 144 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, Henry has gotten to 13,162 yards and 125 touchdowns in his NFL career as a rusher.

He's a power back who, while maybe not the most prolific receiver, is a game-changer who can put up incredible numbers on the ground.

Jim Brown is a Hall of Famer who, in 118 NFL games, ran for 12,313 yards and 106 touchdowns. He was an incredibly consistent runner who put up 104.3 yards per game during his career.

Henry is a significant step below that at 85.5 yards per game, but the physicality and dominance on a game-by-game basis are something that's rarely seen in the NFL.

What Henry is doing makes reaching some all-time rushing milestones well within his reach. So long as he stays healthy, Henry might end up as an inner-circle Hall of Fame running back, and not just another legendary runner.

This praise from Tomlinson highlights just how incredible Henry is. It's not shallow praise, and it's quite a bold claim for anyone to be compared to Brown.

But it's not just anyone making this claim; it's a legendary RB making this claim. The saying goes, "it takes one to know one," and in this case, Tomlinson, a legendary running back, is fully acknowledging Henry in the same breath as the greatest ever to do it.
