"Trade three first for Joe Burrow": NFL fans react after Jaxson Dart's 33-yard, 1 INT outing in Giants' loss to Vikings in Week 16

There were a lot of reasons to start doubting Jaxson Dart following the New York Giants’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. The rookie quarterback was largely underwhelming in the Week 16 game as the Giants suffered a 16-13 loss at home to the Vikings.

The Minnesota defense limited Dart to just 33 passing yards and one interception throughout the game, the fewest he's ever thrown in his short NFL career. The quarterback also rushed for just seven yards on two carries in the game, marking a terrible performance after showing a great impression.

The 33 yards are the fewest yards the Vikings have ever allowed in a game from a quarterback who made at least 10 passing attempts since 1999. That was when Dallas Cowboys quarterback Jason Garrett threw for just four yards in 11 passing attempts in a 27-17 win for the Vikings.

Jaxson Dart has been viewed as the Giants’ franchise quarterback after the rookie has impressed significantly in a number of games this season. He took over the Giants’ starting quarterback role from Russell Wilson in Week 4 and hasn't looked back. The latest outing, however, brings in some doubt.

There's been a lot of reaction among NFL fans to Dart's performance against the Vikings. While a section of the fans still holds confidence in the quarterback, others are raising concerns about the Giants' future in the position.

Here's a look at some of the reactions online:

@NFL @Vikings Trade three first for burrow !!!

@NFL @Vikings 33 yards… Jaxson dart is ASS

Jaxson Dart is still VERY MUCH the QB of the future for the Giants... Bro has an interim HC, OC, and DC, no WR1, his star RB is hurt, and half his OL is dead. Miss me with the bullshit.

@NFL @Vikings Dart is so ass

Jaxson Dart is counting down the days until he’s playing with Malik Nabers and Carnell Tate

Jaxson Dart being shit for 3 weeks in a row

Jaxson Dart not bothered about being treated like a running back

Jaxon Dart has made a handful of good plays with his feet this season for the Giants. This has pretty much shaped the approach of defense toward him, receiving a lot of hits that have led him into concussion protocol.

After Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt encouraged their players to hit Dart as much as possible, the quarterback was questioned on whether that approach bothers him.

“No, absolutely not,” Dart said in his Wednesday press conference. Kirby Smart said the exact same thing every time that he played against me, so did Nick Saban, so did every coach that I played in college. So, this is nothing new, just try to go out there and play smart, and be available for your team.”

While Jaxson Dart isn’t bothered about getting hit frequently, his playing style doesn’t appear sustainable long-term. The rookie has undergone concussion evaluations five times across just 10 extended appearances, including preseason games.
