LeBron James is at a crossroads in his career as retirement continues to beckon for the 41-year-old superstar. However, in the opinion of someone associated with him, James no longer deserves a spot on the team that he once led to an NBA title.

Cuffs the Legend, a social media personality and friend of the 21-time All-Star, had a straightforward response when asked on social media about moves that he wanted the LA Lakers to make.

"Trade LeBron," Cuffs the Legend tweeted on New Year's Day.

Cuffs the Legend isn't the first to stir up trade rumors involving the King this season. Last summer, fans and pundits alike were speculating on James' next move following a gentleman's sweep suffered by the Lakers at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2025 playoffs.

Things took an interesting turn in late June when James picked up his player option. While this signified that he wouldn't be entering free agency, his agent Rich Paul had some interesting comments to make at the time.

"We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career," Paul said.

The ambiguity of Paul's words have left the door open for James to finish his career elsewhere, whether that's later this season or in the next handful of years. However, as far as James' friend is concerned, the Lakers would be better off if they pulled the trigger on a deal that sends the four-time champion out of town.

Rich Paul makes interesting comments on proposed LeBron James trade to Eastern Conference contender

Interestingly, Paul had even more fascinating words to say about a potential LBJ move just last month on the "Game Over" podcast.

When his co-host Max Kellerman asked if Paul could tell James to waive his no-trade clause to facilitate a move to the New York Knicks, Paul responded with a concession.

"He definitely makes them better. I give you that," the Klutch Sports CEO said.

After Rich Paul says he doesn't like the Lakers chances, Max Kellerman asks him to tell Lebron to waive his no trade clause for the Knicks. Even suggesting the Knicks trade either OG or KAT. Rich Paul: "He definitely makes them better. I give you that."

There's no telling how seriously James and Paul have considered moving to New York, but this scenario is certainly something to watch out for.
