Tottenham Hotspur welcome London rivals Chelsea to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a Premier League match this Saturday.
Tottenham will come into this weekend in 3rd place in the league table, while Chelsea are currently six spots lower in 9th. Despite this, only three points separate these sides.
So who will come out on top in this London derby?
Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- It's fair to say that Chelsea have dominated proceedings when they've faced Tottenham in recent years. Tottenham have only won one game against the Blues since the end of 2018, beating them in February 2023. They have lost their last four league matches against Chelsea since then, including loo two at their home stadium.
- Both of these teams were in EFL Cup action on Wednesday, and saw contrasting results. Tottenham were eliminated by holders Newcastle in a bit of a disappointing showing, while Chelsea avoided a late scare to beat Wolves 3-4 despite being reduced to ten men.
- Tottenham's away record in Premier League action has been fantastic this season, with four wins and a draw, but they have not fared so well at home. After beating Burnley on the opening day, they have not won at their home stadium since.
- Inconsistency has hit Chelsea this season, as they have performed brilliantly at times against opponents such as Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, but they have still lost three of their last five, with their recent defeat to Sunderland being a major disappointment.
- Both of these sides have injury concerns coming into this game, with Tottenham likely to be without Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, and Chelsea sweating over the fitness of Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, while Cole Palmer is confirmed to be missing out.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea Prediction
Tottenham have already gotten rid of a couple of unwanted records this season, winning away at West Ham and Everton for the first time in a while. But can they change their woeful record against Chelsea?
The home side will come into this game in slightly better form than their opponents, but have had some struggles in their own stadium, and always seem to find a way to lose against Chelsea.
However, with some key men likely to be out for Enzo Maresca's side, this could be a good time to play them, especially with their tendency to wobble under pressure.
Tottenham's poor record against Chelsea, though, makes it near impossible to pick them here. Therefore, the prediction is a draw.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Chelsea
