Top Chelsea transfer deal hangs on Champions League qualification

Chelsea are set for a busy summer transfer window with a number of incomings and outgoings certain to take place at the club.

However, where the club finishes in the Premier League table could significantly impact their transfer business in the upcoming transfer window.

The Blues currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League table and need to win away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday to guarantee a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Champions League football could be the difference between them signing and missing out on transfer targets.

Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea, and if a report by Givemesport is to be believed, the Blues are indeed interested in the attacking midfielder.

However, the outlet claims that it is not impossible that Eze remains at Selhurst Park and that it may have to take a significant offer from a Champions League club to convince him to leave.

It means Chelsea may very well have to finish in the top five if they want to sign Eze. The Blues have seen first-hand what Eze can do, with the 26-year-old scoring an excellent goal against them earlier this season.

Eze has arguably been Crystal Palace’s best player this season, and he wrote his name into the club’s folklore when he scored the goal that helped the Eagles clinch the FA Cup against Manchester City on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are on the lookout for young talent to bolster their attack and would do well to sign the Englishman.

Speaking about the England international back in March, the 50-year-old said (via The Independent): “He always has the confidence, we know he’s an amazing finisher to cut inside on his right foot with an amazing finish.”
