Mercedes Mone’s record-setting AEW title reign finally came to its demise at the hands of a popular star. Following her victory, she took some time to reflect on the monumental moment and break her silence.
The aforementioned star in question is Willow Nightingale. At the Worlds 2025 pay-per-view, she and Harley Cameron successfully defended the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships against Mercedes Mone and Athena, after Nightingale rolled up The CEO to score the pinfall.
The embarrassing moment led to Mone challenging Nightingale to a match at Dynamite: New Year’s Smash, which was later announced for the TBS Championship. The main event showdown was a highly captivating match and ended with Nightingale shocking the world by defeating Mone and becoming the first two-time TBS Champion in AEW.
As the new year arrived, Willow Nightingale took to her X to reveal that she had taken some time to reflect on the entire year and had been enjoying her New Year's celebrations following the title win. She hoped the same for her fans and looked forward to what the future held for her.

“I meant to post earlier, but I’ve been enjoying my NYE win and “living in the moment” as they say. I hope everyone had their own wonderful New Year celebration and has taken time to reflect on what 2025 has given or taken from us. More reflection to come💖.”Tony Khan addressed claims about pushing Mercedes Mone in AEW
Mercedes Mone had been on an incredible winning streak since debuting in AEW in 2024, lasting more than a year. AEW President and CEO Tony Khan stated that he was adamant about pushing her to keep on winning until her first loss to Toni Storm at All In Texas 2025, seemingly refuting the claims that Mone refused to lose in AEW.
“Mercedes is tremendous to work with, and I had been adamant about building Mercedes up and having Mercedes continue to win and win and win,” Khan explained. “Then finally, you have this match… Mercedes versus Toni Storm — the TBS champion versus the world champion for the world title… and Timeless Toni Storm picked up that great win.” [H/T Ringside News]Moreover, Ultimo Mone’s impressive TBS title reign coming to an end was another testimony of the same. With Mercedes Mone suffering major setbacks in 2025, it remains to be seen what the new year will look like for the former WWE superstar.
