Rory McIlroy recently stated that he would welcome LIV Golf players back onto the PGA Tour without any penalties. This includes Bryson DeChambeau and several other big stars.

The Northern Irishman stated that the players who left the PGA Tour 'paid their consequence.' Stating that ultimately this is not his decision, Rory McIlroy said (via X @NUCLRGolf):

"I think they’ve already paid their consequence. They’ve made the money but they’ve paid their consequence in terms of the reputation and some of the things they’ve lost by going over there. If it made the overall tour stronger to have Bryson DeChambeau back and whoever else, I would be okay with it. But it’s not just me, and I recognize that not everyone is in my position. It would be up to the collective group of PGA Tour members to make that decision.”

Here's a look at the report regarding Rory McIlroy's comments (via X @NUCLRGolf):

A fan commented that if an offer were big enough, Rory McIlroy would consider making the move to the Saudi-based league. The comment read (via X @golfan101_):

"Rory wants LIV money. Trust me, if given a chance, he'll go there. Lol."

Brooks Koepka recently parted ways with the LIV Golf league. A fan stated that Rory McIlroy's opinion earlier this week was an attempt to earn the ex-PGA Tour star a pathway back on the circuit. The fan wrote (via X @male1gr):

"Rory is friends with Brooks, wants a path for him back on tour and knows if Rahm and Bryson return it’s over for LIV."

Another fan praised Rory McIlroy for using his stature in the circuit to be a 'bigger man.'

"Nice to see Rory being the bigger man for once. Though he is in a uniquely privileged spot in that he's not in danger of losing his card if the LIV players are allowed back. I would expect more resistance from the bottom half of the tour," read the comment.

Here are a few other fans' reactions to Rory McIlroy okaying the return of LIV Golf players on the PGA Tour (via X @NUCLRGolf):

A fan said, "Well done Rory. Finally a grown man. These men left for money but every other sport offers free agency. So why shame them for this. The price they paid is not with reputation……it that’s they chose money over permanent golf legacy. Brooks and Bryson and Rahm gave up lots." "Easy for Rory to say, he’s already made generational wealth," commented a golf enthusiast. A fan wrote, "Swap Rory and Bryson and LIV sells a lot less tickets."

Rory McIlroy's first scheduled start on the PGA Tour for the 2026 season is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The tournament will be played from February 12 to 15 in California.

When is Rory McIlroy's next tournament?

Rory McIlroy's first tournament start of the calendar year will be on the DP World Tour. The Ryder Cup star will star in the 2026 Dubai Invitational at the Dubai Creek Resort from January 15 to 18.

He will then play the Hero Dubai Desert Classic from January 22 to 25 at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.
