It is over ten weeks into the 2025 NFL season, and fantasy owners everywhere are scrambling to get the best-producing fits on their squads. Nowhere is this more apparent than in running back, a position that still holds much relevance despite the current pass-happy nature of the league.

One 100-yard performance on one day, players are suddenly being talked about as top picks, some sleepers. One sus-50-yard performance the next, and they become trade targets.

This week, here are players who will either improve or worsen a fantasy roster, necessitating that they be acquired or dumped immediately:

Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are controversial choices here, given their importance to the contending Detroit Lions. Still, there is a chance that the Philadelphia Eagles' run defense that is anchored by defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis and linebackers Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean will swallow them whole.

Chuba Hubbard was once thought to be the future of the Carolina Panthers' offense, but Rico Dowdle has been outplaying him despite starting fewer games.

Tyrone Tracy is back as the starter after Cam Skattebo's season-ending ankle injury, but not even an extended break restudying the New York Giants' offense will help him against the Green Bay Packers' run-stuffing corps led by Quay Walker.

D'Andre Swift, however, may be the biggest loser. While by no means a bad running back, he will have to deal with the Minnesota Vikings' anti-run unit bannered by Ivan Pace and Blake Cashman.

And of course, there is Breece Hall. Against a dominant New England Patriots squad that has many play-stoppers, he will struggle to get yards in.

  • #8. De'Von Achane
  • #7. JK Dobbins
  • #6. Saquon Barkley
  • #5. Bucky Irving
  • #4. Kyren Williams
  • #3. Ashton Jeanty
  • #2. Derrick Henry
  • #1. Christian McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey is the biggest winner this week, as he faces off against an Arizona Cardinals squad that cannot defend up the middle to save itself.

Derrick Henry is another big winner, as the Cleveland Browns are expected to struggle to keep up with the Baltimore Ravens despite having decent developing run-stoppers in rookies Mason Graham and Carson Schwesinger. Sticking to the AFC North, Jaylen Warren figures to have a monstrous game against a Cincinnati Bengals squad that is still reeling from losing primary run-stopper Logan Wilson.

Meanwhile, a potential sleeper pick is the New England Patriots' TreVeyon Henderson. With Rhamondre Stevenson not playing this Thursday, expect him to utterly dominate the New York Jets, who just lost Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner in trades and are seeing regressions from linebackers Quincy Williams and Jamien Sherwood.
