Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett are enjoying the NHRA offseason, as the couple had a lighthearted moment in a recent public appearance. While addressing fans at an event, Pruett had her son, Dominic, seated on her lap. He reached for the microphone mid-speech, briefly turning it off.
Pruett later shared the clip on Instagram and wrote:
“I thought I was gonna give a speech, but Dom had other plans. 🚫🎤 😂.”Born in November 2024, Dominic James Stewart was the couple's first child. The milestone reshaped their racing plans. Leah Pruett stepped away from full-time competition following her son's birth, while Stewart took over the Direct Connection Dodge/SRT Top Fuel seat under the TSR banner.
That opened the door for Stewart, and he delivered immediately. He earned NHRA Rookie of the Year honors in 2024, then followed it up with a dominant 2025 campaign. Stewart won races in Las Vegas and Chicago, reached the Pomona final, and locked up the regular-season championship. His results confirmed that he belonged in Top Fuel and justified the temporary handover within the Tony Stewart Racing camp.
The transition now comes full circle, with Leah Pruett set to reclaim her Direct Connection Dodge/SRT Top Fuel dragster under the TSR banner in 2026.

Since entering NHRA, he leaned heavily on Leah Pruett’s experience, learning the technical demands of Top Fuel racing before eventually replacing her in the car. That period sharpened his understanding and allowed TSR to grow competitively.
With a new alliance in place, Stewart will shift into an Elite Motorsports-backed seat in 2026, clearing the way for Pruett’s return. She recently shared a post from the PRI NHRA event, where she appeared alongside Stewart and other TSR drivers. She wrote on X:
“Comeback Season starts NOW! #PRI.”Leah Pruett has already resumed limited testing and plans to ramp up preparation after the Christmas break. The upcoming season will mark her first full NHRA campaign as a mother. The 2026 NHRA season is scheduled to begin March 5–8, when both Stewart and Pruett will line up under the Tony Stewart Racing banner for the first time.
