Jon Moxley defeated Kazuchika Okada in the Continental Classic finals to become the AEW Continental Champion at AEW Worlds End 2025. It was a massive victory for The Purveyor of Violence following an epic year filled with ups and downs. Following the match, Mox celebrated in the ring as the fans blew the roof off the Now Arena with their cheers and applause.
AEW President Tony Khan commented on the fans' positive reaction to Jon Moxley's win at AEW Worlds End despite him being a heel. The former WWE star has been working as the top villain for more than a year. In his 2025 run, Mox has taken down fan favorites like Hangman Page and Darby Allin time and time again. However, fans still reacted very positively to Jon's Continental title win.
Speaking on AEW Worlds End 2025 Media Scrum, Tony Khan said that he was not surprised by how fans reacted to Moxley's win. He added that heel or babyface is just a part of the business. But the respect for a wrestler extends beyond any realm of entertainment. Therefore, Khan believes that fans reacted to the win due to the massive respect Moxley has in the world of pro-wrestling.
"No, I was not surprised. Maybe it’s because, as wrestling fans, what’s great about wrestling is that if I asked everyone in here to name their top 20 wrestlers, we’d all have different answers. You’d get a few names appearing on multiple lists for sure, but overall you’d get very different responses. At the same time, there are common instincts that bring a crowd together, people connect because they share those instincts. As a fan, I felt like that was how people would probably react," said Khan.Check out the full comments below:

“Jon Moxley is such a decorated world champion. He’s been the world champion here four times, and I believe six times across the world of wrestling. He’s the only man to have ever held the AEW World Championship, the WWE World Championship, and the IWGP World Championship. He’s also been the International Champion, and this marks the first time he’s been the Continental Champion," said Khan. With that, Tony expressed positivity about Jon's reign as the Continental Champion. It is going to be interesting to see who will be the first challenger for Jon Moxley in AEW moving forward.
