Tom Brady’s biggest broadcasting flaw revealed

It took time, but Tom Brady has grown more comfortable in the broadcast booth after two seasons in color commentary.

NFL analyst suggests Tom Brady has one flaw when it comes to broadcasting.

Brady remains strong at breaking down plays for viewers, but one area still needs refinement: situational strategy. Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina noted that Brady occasionally misses opportunities to fully explain key in-game decisions.

Traina pointed to a moment late in the third quarter of the Rams’ loss to Seattle, when Los Angeles scored a touchdown to cut the deficit to 31–26 with 2:06 remaining.

“There was zero discussion of whether Los Angeles should go for two to cut the Seahawks’ lead to 31–28,” Traina wrote. “I’m not saying that Brady needed to declare that the Rams had to go for two, but a discussion about whether L.A. should go for two was absolutely necessary.”

Traina added that the lack of discussion became more significant later in the game. The Rams kicked the extra point to make it 31–27, then faced a fourth-and-4 from Seattle’s 6-yard line with 4:59 remaining in the fourth quarter.

“If the Rams had kicked a field goal earlier, they could have kicked one here to tie the game,” Traina wrote. “You also could have argued that Los Angeles should have kicked a field goal to make it 31–30, setting up a potential game-winning field goal on the next possession.”
