Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards trade prediction makes absolutely no sense

For a team to move on from franchise-caliber players, it would take a lot in a trade more often than not. That's why I continue to question whether it ever makes sense to trade certain players.

Ultimately, many of those star players have to be viewed in a different light, especially if they were drafted by a team and grew up with the fan base loving them.

One of those guys is Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves. I've been on record plenty of times saying that it wouldn't make any sense to move on from Edwards, but a recent prediction suggested that he could be moved this offseason.

“The second-apron tax bill has officially wreaked absolute havoc on the Twin Cities. Following the aggressive payroll liquidations of Karl-Anthony Towns a few years ago and Julius Randle a few days ago, national insiders note that Anthony Edwards may be growing increasingly disgruntled with the franchise's trajectory. With the competitive floor rapidly shrinking beneath him, the spectacular young guard could force a landscape-shifting trade demand before the summer window slams shut. ESPN's Brian Windhorst recently mentioned that teams are closely monitoring the situation with Antman,” Joe Cervenka wrote.

I don't really understand where the Edwards talk is coming from, as it feels more like people talking because Edwards plays for a small-market Timberwolves team. Minnesota is one of the better teams in the Western Conference, he's a young, bright star, and the organization has continued to show that it will do whatever it takes to put a team around him that can win.

For those reasons and more, it would make absolutely no sense to trade him.
