Detroit Tigers insider Cody Stavenhagen acknowledges that the idea of the Los Angeles Dodgers acquiring Tarik Skubal is tempting. However, Stavenhagen believes the cost-benefit equation of such a trade won't add up for the Dodgers.

Skubal, the current AL CY Young winner, is widely considered to be the best pitcher in MLB. The 29-year-old lefty is entering his walk year, and as such, is rumored to be a trade target for many teams, especially the Dodgers.

Stavenhagen covers the Tigers for The Athletics. The staff writer shared his thoughts about Skubal and the Dodgers on Tuesday's episode of "Tiger Territory."

"It would be pretty sick if the Dodgers got Tarik Skubal," Stavenhagen said (Timestamp: 14:54). "This is the best insight we've had yet. I mean, he (Tyler Glasnow) said Andrew Friedman told him he's not going to be traded. So it sounds like he talked with the man himself, Andrew Friedman, about at least some level of this stuff."

Glasnow's name came up in the rumor mills as a trade piece for the Dodgers to acquire Skubal. However, the Dodgers pitcher clarified on MLB Network Radio that the front office doesn't have any plans to trade him away.

With or without Glasnow in the trade talks, Stavenhagen doesn't think the Dodgers should trade for Skubal.

"Why would I send talented prospects, regardless of how they might be blocked?" he questioned. "Why would you just give some of those players to another team for one year of Tarik Skubal if you could just wait a year."Know that you're going to be able to outspend to get him a year from now without parting with other talent, other assets in your organization," he added.
