The Detroit Tigers are the team that will have all of the attention of the Major League Baseball world on them as the trade deadline on August 3 approaches.
While there will be plenty of interest in Casey Mize, Gleyber Torres, and others, the potential for a Tarik Skubal trade is why teams will have a ton of interest in the Tigers this summer.
But what are the odds Skubal is actually dealt? ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel revealed the percentage chance Skubal is traded this season, and it's higher than 50% chance Skubal is dealt.
Tigers have greater than 50% chance of trading Tarik Skubal
"1. Tarik Skubal, LHP, Detroit Tigers. Chance of being traded: 60%," Passan and McDaniel projected.
The duo from ESPN also noted how, "Considering the hole they've dug themselves, they're far more likely than not to move Skubal..."
Trading Skubal is a very real possibility for the Tigers this summer, and currently, the odds of a deal, according to ESPN, is 60%. They gave the same trade odds to Mize, revealing the odds for the Tigers to sell overall.
Currently, the Tigers are 47-53 in the regular season, 6.5 games back in the AL Central. But, more importantly, they're only 4.5 games back in the AL Wild Card.

If the Tigers can make up some ground, then it wouldn't be a surprise if Detroit decides to keep Skubal. But, such a future seemingly only has a 40% chance of happening according to this 60% Skubal trade prediction.
Sitting at over a 50% chance of being traded means that a deal involving the Tigers' ace has a legitimate chance to happen. It shouldn't be a huge surprise if he's dealt, as the value he'd bring back would help the Tigers immensely.
He's likely the most coveted trade chip this summer for any postseason contender. Depending on how many teams are actually involved in the bidding war for Skubal, the Tigers could land a massive return for him that's franchise-altering.
A deal this summer has a 60% chance of happening, according to ESPN, and those odds could come true if the Tigers struggle from here on out until the August 3 deadline. Skubal could be on the move, with the odds of a trade over 50%.
