The Oklahoma City Thunder bounced back in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 122-113 to even the series at 1-1. After dropping the opener in dramatic fashion, Oklahoma City responded with a more balanced effort behind MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a major defensive contribution from Isaiah Hartenstein.

Gilgeous-Alexander delivered another star performance, finishing with 30 points, four rebounds and nine assists while shooting 12-of-24 from the field. The Thunder guard controlled the pace offensively and repeatedly attacked San Antonio’s defense in crucial stretches. His scoring and playmaking helped Oklahoma City avoid falling into a dangerous 0-2 series hole.

Castle shines, but turnovers and injuries shift focus as Thunder even series

Hartenstein also played a pivotal role, recording 10 points and 13 rebounds while helping defend Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama still produced 21 points and 17 rebounds, but postgame analysis pointed to Hartenstein’s physical defense as a key factor in limiting San Antonio’s offensive rhythm.

The Spurs received a strong effort from rookie guard Stephon Castle, who scored 25 points and added eight assists. However, Castle also committed nine turnovers, an issue that repeatedly disrupted San Antonio’s offensive flow and created transition opportunities for Oklahoma City.

The game was also overshadowed by injuries. Oklahoma City lost Jalen Williams to a left hamstring injury after he played just seven minutes. Meanwhile, San Antonio rookie Dylan Harper exited with a right leg injury and did not return. The Spurs were already without De’Aaron Fox because of an ankle injury.

With the series tied at 1-1, both teams now shift focus to Game 3 while monitoring increasingly important injury situations.
