Three-time Grammy winner critical in Dodgers Tyler Glasnow trade

Right-hander Tyler Glasnow has been with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the past three seasons after the Tampa Bay Rays traded him in December 2023. Outfielder Manuel Margot and cash were also in the trade with Glasnow, while the Rays received outfielder Jonny DeLuca and right-hander Ryan Pepiot.

Since joining the Dodgers, the former All-Star (2024) has been a key part of helping the Dodgers win back-to-back World Series (2024 and 2025).

The story of Glasnow becoming a Dodger is interesting, as it took a country music star to help the Dodgers acquire him.

Country music star Brad Paisley played a critical role in the Dodgers' acquiring Tyler Glasnow

In a recent appearance on the YouTube show “Dodgers Territory,” Paisley said that he helped Dodgers' president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, acquire Glasnow. Paisley and Friedman invited Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander and other executives to his house to get the deal done.

“Eight Tampa Bay Rays front office people walk in, and we've already got about 30 Dodgers,” Paisley said on “Dodgers Territory.” They stayed till four in the morning and called an Uber, one of the front office people with one of the team's faces planted in the front yard.”

Friedman would call Paisley the next day, telling him, “You get the assists.”

After becoming a Dodger, Glasnow signed a five-year ($136.6 million) contract. In three seasons with the Dodgers, Glasnow is 14-9 with a 3.35 ERA and has 289 strikeouts in 236.1 innings.
