Since moving upstate, I’ve hired my share of home contractors.
One thing I’ve learned is that half of what you’re paying for isn’t the labor but the tools that they use, and thanks to this job, I’m never shy about asking why a tool (or brand) has been chosen for whatever task.
When I had a contractor come to remove a questionable shelving situation I built myself, he showed up with a DeWalt 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw (currently 39% off today on Amazon).
In less than five minutes, the unit was gone, and I’m sure more than a few nails met their untimely end in the process. The contractor explained that the saw moved up to 3,000 strokes per minute, making it ideal for thick material. He also favored it because it was cordless — you do not want to be tangled in anything when working with this type of tool.
I asked him, “Best used for professionals?” He told me that it was actually fairly easy to use, provided you weren’t afraid of power tools, and his brother — a non-contractor — used one for all of his bigger DIY projects. And when I looked into it, most customers who purchased on Amazon highly rated it, calling it “great” and “dependable.”
DeWalt 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw
AmazonThe reciprocating saw comes with a keyless blade, a powerful 8,000 rpm angle grinder and a circular saw that cuts 2x4s at a 45-degree angle in one pass. It also features a 100 CFM cordless blower and a 110-lumen LED flashlight, which offers extra visibility when you’re working in tight, dark spaces.
I wouldn’t call it the best saw for DIY-beginners — it’s extremely powerful. But if you’ve come to the place where you’re taking down walls or dismantling larger pieces of furniture (one customer reviewer used this to remove his hot tub), it’s quite literally a mighty tool to have in your tool kit arsenal.
I’m happy to pay someone to do the heavy lifting for me, but if you’re more ambitious, the DeWalt 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw may quickly become a go-to. And with it being 39% off on Amazon, there’s no better time to grab it.
