The search for a man who fell through the ice with his wife in Cape Cod has been suspended for being too dangerous for rescue teams, authorities said.

The unidentified husband and wife were walking with their dog early Saturday when they fell through the ice on Bee’s River, with rescuers initially finding the wife screaming for help, according to the Cape Cod Times.

Two first responders fell through the ice while trying to rescue the woman, whose body was found hours later on Saturday.

The hunt for her husband continued through Sunday morning, using drones as well as others “on foot,” the Eastham Police Department said.

But it was suspended Sunday because of the danger, and will not resume until “changes to the ice conditions occur, allowing access for public safety personnel,” the department said.

“We returned this morning with some drone equipment to search the shoreline and over the ice and nothing has been found at this time,” Eastham Police Chief Adam Bohannon said Sunday.

Both cops safely made it to shore and were rushed to a local hospital. They have since been released.

The woman’s body was recovered by a dive team hours after the initial call. She was declared dead at the scene.

The couple is not being identified at the request of the family, police said.
