Ever since making his big league debut in 2020, Luis Robert Jr. has impressed with solid performances on both sides of the baseball. The center fielder earned a Gold Glove award in his rookie season, before earning his first ever All-Star selection and Silver Slugger award in 2023.

However, with the Chicago White Sox having struggled mightily in recent seasons, a potential rebuild could be on the cards, and the organization may decide to trade Luis Robert Jr.

According to insider and former executive Jim Bowden, the Cincinnati Reds should capitalize. He shared his thoughts via MLB Network Radio on Monday.

“I think the Cincinnati Reds need to get more offense,” Bowden said. “I really like the young rotation that (Reds president of baseball operations) Nick Krall and (general manager) Brad Meador have built in Cincinnati. If you get enought offense, that can be a winnable division in 2026. I don't think the Reds' offense, as constituted, is good enough to get there. "I'd like to see them go get a bat. They need Luis Robert! That’s what they need to trade for. They have been working on it for two years. (White Sox general manager) Chris Getz, Nick Krall, get together, get it done! These guys (existing Reds outfielder options) are okay as fourth and fifth outfielders, I have no problem with that. Not to start. Let's go get Robert!”

White Sox manager speaks about Luis Robert Jr.'s quality, offers insight into injury-prevention plan

In early November, the Chicago White Sox extended Luis Robert Jr.'s stint at the Guaranteed Rate Field, picking up his $20 million option for the 2026 season.

Soon after, White Sox skipper Will Venable spoke about what the outfielder brings to the team.

“This guy is a game changer,” Will Venable told insider Scott Merkin of MLB.com. “We all know that his skill set is incredible and he can make an impact on the field as much as anybody on this planet. To have him out there healthy, it makes all the difference in the world for us."

Further, Venable also offered some insight into the injury-prevention plan the organization are employing to help Robert stay healthy.

“We have a plan with performance,” Venable added. “We had it going into last year, we have it every year with Luis, understanding the risk [of] injury and really have a mindful plan with all of our players. Certainly, a heightened awareness of Luis and his injury history. We'll roll out a similar plan this year and make sure we're doing everything to put him in the best spot to be healthy and be productive.”

Luis Robert Jr.'s contract includes another club option for the 2027 season, after which he will be eligible to enter free agency.
