Childish Gambino has revealed that he cancelled his tour last year because he suffered a stroke and faced more health issues. Hence, he cancelled the last few dates of his North America tour and also cancelled his entire Australia and New Zealand tour.
Childish Gambino, whose real name is Donald McKinley Glover Jr., went on The New World Tour, starting on August 11, 2024. The tour was in support of his album, Bando Stone & the New World, released on July 19, 2024. He performed a few shows in North America before cancelling the remaining shows in September. Glover also cancelled his shows in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand after that.
The musician shared the reasons behind it during his performance at Camp Flog Gnaw on Saturday, November 22. As caught by Kurrco, he said:
“I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana and I did the show anyway. I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’ And the first thing I thought was like, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx.’ That’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.'" "I broke my foot… They found a hole in my heart… so I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery.” “They say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realize you have one… You should be living your life how you want. If we have to do this again, it can only get better,” he added.Grover appears to have overcome these struggles, though, as he performed at the Camp Flog Gnaw on Saturday. It is an annual event created by rapper Tyler, The Creator. This year, it took place on November 22 and 23 in Los Angeles.
Notably, the Childish Gambino booth at Camp Flog Gnaw was selling some 'Cancel Cards', which featured the likes of Drake, Diddy, and R. Kelly, among others, on them.

In an interview with The New York Times, published on July 17, 2024, he said:
“It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done.’ It’s not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore.”Grover spoke about moving forward in life and his family, saying:
“I think grace is undervalued in the world. When I put my son on my shoulders, I feel deep joy. That’s real. No one on their deathbed is going to look back and say, ‘Thank God I avoided being cringe.'”Grover has three kids with his long-term partner, Michelle White: Legend, Drake, and Donald III.
