In an intriguing turn of events, Tony Khan has seemingly taken a jab at WWE. The incident occurred during the tapings of the upcoming AEW Dynamite.
AEW hosted the Holiday Bash edition of Collision this past Saturday. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville-based promotion was also scheduled to tape the next edition of Dynamite in New York at Hammerstein Ballroom on 34th Street. During the changeover, Tony Khan came out to greet the live audience. Mere seconds into his appearance, the crowd began chanting "MSG," indicating they wanted to see an All Elite Wrestling show in Madison Square Garden.
The President then revealed that the Flagship show's very first episode was slated to be held at the iconic venue. However, it ultimately didn't happen, as Khan said that 'they' did not want him there, seemingly alluding to WWE being the reason AEW's MSG opportunity fell through.
"They didn't want me there, did you know that? The first episode of Dynamite was originally going to be there and they called me and offered me the date. They (MSG) said 'would you like to do the first episode of Dynamite here?'..and I said 'yeah I really would, it would be great.' Then they called me a couple months ago and said, 'we don't want you here anymore,'" said Tony Khan [0:12 - 0:59]Shocking title change taped for last SmackDown - Watch Now!
Khan's comments riled up the audience to start "f**k the fed" chants, which for those unaware is a common buzz word for WWE.
Tony Khan's reaction to AEW winning the promotion of the year award over WWE
A few days ago, Sports Illustrated announced the winners of their 2025 wrestling awards. As expected, many of the awards went to AEW, including the promotion of the year accolade. Naturally, the company's president, Tony Khan, had something to say about this massive achievement. He took to X and thanked everyone involved for their support.
"On behalf of (All Elite Wrestling), thank you fans who watch (All Elite Wrestling), and thanks to the journalists’ panel that voted @AEW as top company + recognized 8 top (All Elite Wrestling) stars, with (All Elite Wrestling) winning a total of 10 @SInow Wrestling Awards in 2025! Congratulations award winners + team AEW on these hard-earned awards!," he wrote on X.On behalf of AEW, thank you fans who watch AEW, and thanks to the journalists’ panel that voted @AEW as top company + recognized 8 top AEW stars, with AEW winning a total of 10 @SInow Wrestling Awards in 2025! This was a big win for the Jacksonville-based promotion, and it will help them cover ground on WWE as we head into 2026.
