Saquon Barkley was considered the best player in the 2018 NFL Draft by many, especially by former Giants general manager Dave Gettleman.
Gettleman defiantly scoffed at the analytics crowd that railed against the notion that a running back should never be a consideration with the second overall pick.
Barkley, as we would learn, was the right player but in the wrong place for the wrong team.
Eli Manning didn’t have a Super Bowl left in his 37-year-old arm and Gettleman’s vow to fix the offensive line fell by the wayside.
