The World Tournament of Slots experience lived up to the hype

If you didn’t already know, slot tournaments are the real deal.

This weekend, I attended the myVIP World Tournament of Slots (WTOS), a high-stakes slot tournament that took place at Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas. The exclusive competition featured elite players from around the world vying for a $1 million grand prize, and as somebody who is a complete novice in the area, I have to say I was unfamiliar with the slot tournament’s game. 

Developed by PLAYSTUDIOS, the award-winning developer and publisher of free-to-play mobile games and creator of the myVIP loyalty program, this year’s WTOS combined the thrill of casino action with the accessibility of social gaming, while also featuring exciting guests such as Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, 2025 World Series of Poker champion and Poker Hall of Famer and Jenny McCarthy, who helped with expanding its reach and shining a spotlight on this global competition, alongside Heather Dubrow, who brought her signature glamour and energy to the festivities.

I spoke with Mizrachi briefly about his experiences competing and cheering his mother on, and the transition from playing poker. “It’s pretty cool because I’m used to playing poker,” he told me. “I’ve done a lot of slot machines…I’ve done a lot of tournaments all over Las Vegas. But this is really cool because it’s something different. It was a lot of hand-eye coordination, and there is definitely skill in it. You have to hit the diamonds as quickly as you can, and I think that’s when you have the edge,” he continued.

And having the tournament take place at Atlantis didn’t hurt either. The resort is stunning, and there were plenty of activities available for sports lovers to take advantage of in between competitions, from a range of shops and restaurants to multiple pools and water slides.
