The White Sox's future is looking bright with Colson Montgomery leading the way

It has been a tough few seasons for the Chicago White Sox and their fanbase. After a failed championship window, the club gutted much of anything with value and started a rebuild.

While we are not at the end of the rebuild yet, things are starting to come together for the South Siders. Some of the younger talent have given the front office and the fans a taste of what they can do, and there is some growing interest across baseball for this club.

Colson Montgomery, the club's top prospect, made his debut in July of last season and did not look back. He did not have much of a problem transitioning to MLB, hitting 21 home runs in just 71 games while handling shortstop and a few games at third base well.

The White Sox's future looks bright with Colson Montgomery leading the way

Montgomery will be on the Opening Day lineup, so fans will get him for a full season, barring any injuries. He will be 24 in just a few days, making him one of the growing numbers of young players making a statement in the big leagues.

According to Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter, he is ranked 22nd on the list of top players under 25 years old.

"Only Kyle Schwarber, Shohei Ohtani, Cal Raleigh, and Junior Caminero hit more home runs during the second half last season than the 21 that Montgomery slugged to close out his rookie campaign. The power is real and his glove was better than expected, but a strikeout rate hovering near 30 percent will need to improve."

Montgomery was one of the best sluggers across the second half, and he did well defensively, but not everything was perfect. His 29.2% strikeout rate is something that he will need to work on if he wants to break through his ceiling.
