The Nets’ tanking has all been for one purpose: to land a potential young star.
The Nets are playing the percentages and praying for lottery luck, in hopes of landing a franchise-changing talent in the upcoming draft.
But long before the Nets host the draft in June at Barclays Center or go to the lottery in May, they’ll watch those prospects over the next month in March Madness. The NCAA Tournament will put those young stars on display for the Nets’ scouts to assess, their executives to evaluate and their fans to follow.
Kansas combo guard Darryn Peterson, BYU wing AJ Dybantsa and Duke big man Cameron Boozer have long been projected atop this potentially generational draft, considered the best freshman class in history.
