The Jets made the first selection of the Aaron Glenn/Darren Mougey era and it was Missouri tackle Armand Membou on Thursday night.
Here are some thoughts about that pick and the rest of the Jets’ draft as we prepare for Day 2:
1. The Jets have now selected an offensive lineman in the first two rounds in five of the last six drafts. Membou (first round, 2025), Olu Fashanu (first round, 2024), Joe Tippmann (second round, 2023), Alijah Vera-Tucker (first round, 2021) and Mekhi Becton (first round, 2020) have all been taken with premium picks.
Mougey, the new general manager, picked up where former GM Joe Douglas left off in terms of trying to build a strong O-line. It makes sense to attack the offensive line. Those players are hard to find. If you look around the NFL, there are so many talented defensive linemen but very few teams have strong offensive lines. There just are not enough good O-linemen out there.
