The First Descendant: Best Harris build guide (3-hit combo)

If you like punching things in The First Descendant, then Harris is a character you’ll enjoy playing. She is primarily a close-combat melee character, and her kit will have you jump from one group of enemies to another. At the same time, she also grants herself and other party members overshield, keeping everyone safe from potential fatal hits.

A squad with Harris is probably the safest team in the game, but to achieve that, you’ll need a good build. Here’s a complete guide on how to mod her, along with the best Reactor, External Components, and Arche Tuning setup in The First Descendant.

Harris is one of those Descendants who don’t require MP to use skills. Her first and second abilities are cooldown-based, meaning the lower it is, the more you’ll be able to use them. Additionally, they also generate Toxin, which is necessary to use the third and fourth abilities.

Her first ability is a barrage of heavy punches using her unique mechanical arms, NOVA. The first two hits in the combo deal the same amount of damage, but the third one deals double the amount to finish off any remaining enemies.

Another thing to note is that despite some strong hits, the punches pull enemies together. Each hit using the first ability applies the Towed debuff that groups surrounding mobs for easy targeting.

A good build can help you reach millions per hit, which is a must across Axion Plains and Void Intercept boss fight in The First Descendant. Here’s the mod setup for Harris’s 3-hit combo build:

  • Safety Training (Transcendent module)
  • Stim Accelerant
  • Increased HP
  • Nimble Fingers
  • MP Conversion
  • Skill Expansion
  • Shield Charge
  • Skill Extension
  • Toxic Amplification
  • Power Increase
  • Pioneer’s Resolution (Ancestor module)
  • Steel Vanguard (Trigger module)

Since the overshield scales based on HP, having as much health as possible will significantly impact the survivability. Her skill rotation is simple, and all you need to do is keep generating and using Toxin. Use the first and second abilities to fill all three resource bars and spend them as soon as possible.

Each time the toxin level crosses a threshold through an increase or a decrease, Harris gains a buff from her passive. These include Cooldown, Duration, HP, DEF, Melee Weapon ATK, and Skill Power. Your goal is to keep the buff active by constantly upping and lowering the levels.

The Ancestor module for Harris is Pioneer's Resolution. It allows you to stack multiple stats and provides a big damage boost to her abilities. If you haven’t found one, replace the mod with Skill Amplification. However, if you did get one, try to acquire the following stats on it:

  • + Skill Cooldown
  • + Fusion Skill Power
  • + HP
  • - MP

Having a few of the mods mentioned above will be good enough for all in-game content. Re-rolling the stats on the Ancestor module can get increasingly expensive, so for the time being, use what you get.

Best Reactor, External Components, and Arche Tuning for Harris in The First Descendant

Use a Toxic Mixture Reactor and the Plague set (Image via Nexon)Use a Toxic Mixture Reactor and the Plague set (Image via Nexon)

For the Reactor, using a Toxic Fusion or Toxin Tech is the best option. Going with Tech allows you to maximize the damage from punches, while Fusion will increase the damage of the laser beam. As for the sub-stat, Skill Cooldown, along with Toxin or Fusion Power Boost, is the best combination.

The best External Component for Harris will be the Plague set. While it has a massive penalty to the Firearm Critical Hit and Damage, having four of them equipped will also boost your Tech Power by 5% and Toxic Skill Power by a massive 43%. Additionally, generating a custom resource for Harris (toxins) will provide another 21% boost.

Lastly, the Arche Tuning board makes use of two ultimate nodes, similar to the Hailey’s Cold Heart build. Make your way to the gold Enhanced Skill Power for additional damage, and to spam your first ability as much as possible, go up to grab the Enhanced Skill Cooldown.

You can swap a few nodes, like the Enhanced Additional Skill ATK vs Colossus for Skill Range or more HP. For the Mutant Cell, use Toxin Chain Catalyst to reduce the resistance of enemies, each time you hit them with a skill.
