For the longest time, two-sport and two-division ONE world champion Roman Kryklia was deemed unbeatable.

But in the final act of ONE Fight Night 37 on Prime Video, an unlikely hero emerged and slayed the indestructible beast.

Samet Agdeve did the improbable and ended the Ukrainian goliath's 15-fight winning streak with a brilliant five-round technical display last Saturday, Nov. 7, in Bangkok, Thailand. By doing so, 'The King' lived up to his moniker and claimed his throne, becoming the promotion's first-ever ONE heavyweight kickboxing world champion.

Early on, it appeared that Kryklia was off to another quick night at the office. He unloaded his ballistic combinations that have vanquished even the fiercest challengers in the past.

But something was different this time. Agdeve carried himself with menacing swagger, a stark contrast to those who cowered under the dual-sport world champion's presence.

Refusing to be a sitting target, the Turkish phenom countered and kept landing what appeared like rudimentary calf kicks on his towering foe. Kryklia didn't realize it yet, but the damage kept piling on. The 6-foot-6 skyscraper was getting chopped down little by little.

By Round 2, a nasty welt formed on the double champ's left calf, leaving him hobbling back to his corner.

Though compromised, Kryklia wasn't going away easily. He kept headhunting in the third frame, but Agdeve refused to buckle. 'The King' stuck to the plan, shelling up from the 34-year-old destroyer's power shots and responding with more punishing leg kicks.

By Round 4, the damage was evident, and Kryklia's gas tank no longer looked as limitless as before.

Official result: Samet Agdeve defeats Roman Kryklia via unanimous decision

Sensing the mighty Kryklia fading in the championship rounds gave Agdeve a confidence boost to pull off the massive upset.

After his lower-body assault, Agdeve added clubbing overhands to the equation. The undefeated stalwart fearlessly bridged the distance against his gigantic adversary and kept finding his mark.

'The King' refused to let up as the clock wound down. He was ready to seize his moment and kept bashing Kryklia's head and body. The Ukrainian demolisher got a dose of his own medicine. For the first time ever, Kryklia appeared mortal.

Once the final bell rang, Agdeve was extremely confident heading into the scorecards, as he should have been.

After Dom Lau read his name, it was pure euphoria. All the hardships he endured early in his life were worth it after this moment.

Agdeve improved to 18-0 and fulfilled his lifelong dream, bringing pride and glory to Turkey.
