Everyone is trying to figure it out.
Why hasn't Shedeur Sanders been drafted yet?
The Colorado QB was a consensus first-round pick who has now gone three rounds without being chosen. In a basic summary, it doesn't make sense.
The Athletic's Jeff Howe wrote a well-sourced article overnight Friday into Saturday that tries to make sense of it all.
The NFL reporter Howe lays out three reasons for Sanders' slide. They are:
- "The backup dilemma"
- "Off the field"
- "Limited market"

The backup situation is an interesting one. Howe explains that "it's usually better when the player is more anonymous than not" as the backup QB for a team.
Sanders' last name and massive hype wouldn't make him anonymous, that's for sure.
Off the field, Sanders' interviews with some teams were a concern, Howe reports. He also sat out practice at the Shrine Bowl.

And then there's the fact that very few teams needed a starting QB or a potential starting QB.
These don't explain it all. But they're some of the best insights out there on why Shedeur Sanders hasn't been picked yet.

Saturday is a new day, with the final four rounds of the NFL Draft. It seems like he'll have to go at some point on Saturday.
But at this point, anything seems possible in this historic free fall.
