I hated school, but maybe I miss it now.

How you feel about school changes as you grow up. Yes, what your mother tells you about missing school once you have finished it is true, but not completely. When I was in high school I remember hating it; waking up at 6 a.m. only to get to a boring class that had nothing to do with my interests was awful. I particularly hated biology class. I don't really know the reason why, but I hated the teacher and all her boring explanations. When I was in class, I used to think about the future, how life would be different once I finished school. And it was very, very different, but not always in a good way.

When I started college, it felt like a great upgrade to my life; it is far more interesting to study and go to lectures when they are interesting to you. Never having to sit in a biology class again was amazing. But not everything was as great as it seemed at first. Being an adult became hard very soon; having to work, manage finances, and make the hard decisions my parents were doing for me a couple of months prior made me realize I missed my old life. I missed school. I didn't miss second-period math or the lunch at 11 a.m.; I missed not having responsibilities other than attending school. I missed being a kid.

Luckily, that feeling didn't last forever; you grow up from missing school and childhood. Yes, I have some good memories from that time, but I didn't particularly love my time in school. But I do like my current life a lot more. Something nobody tells you about being an adult is how awesome it is to be the one managing your life and making the important choices. Now I do what I like. Yes, life isn't perfect, but I assure you it is a lot better than it used to be when I was in school. I wouldn't trade my normal life for anything, not even to go back in time. I'm better now.
